En Roger Phillips és un locutor de la BBC Radio Merseyside, a Anglaterra, que dirigeix un programa els migdies d’aquests on la gent va telefonant per a contar les seves coses.

Fa uns dies va telefonar tot un personatge anònim per explicar el seu problema, quan el seu veí accionava el comandament a distància de la portassa li provocava ereccions. En Phillips, entre rialla i rialla aconseguí demanar com podia ser. Resulta que aquest oient patia d’impotència i va viatjar a Turquia per implantar-se un dispositiu que erigeix el seu membre i la freqüència del comandament a distància és la mateixa que “l’elevador”.
I és que el problema ha arribat a tal punt que aquest home no pot sortir de casa quan el veí entra o treu el cotxe de la portassa.

En Phillips li recomana que vagi al metge, que s’ho faci mirar, vaja, però ell insisteix en que aquesta tecnologia només la tenen els turcs i que no està per tornar-hi per ara.

La conversa va anar així (en anglès, clar):

OIENT: I had a problem with impotence and I had an operation in Turkey and got an implant which would help.
LOCUTOR: I know the sort of thing.
OIENT: But what is happening now is every time my neighbour comes back in their 4 x 4, I get an erection. LOCUTOR: Good Lord.
OIENT: This is embarrassing. It’s a big problem.
LOCUTOR: Have you been to see you doctor about it?
OIENT: The problem is I had this done in Turkey, using equipment that is not known in this country. I don’t like it because every time his car pulls in I can’t leave the house. LOCUTOR: (Laughing) I’m afraid that it sounds funny as well. I know it’s not funny for you.
OIENT: It’s not funny for me, Roger, when I can’t leave the house because I’m walking around with a big erection.
LOCUTOR: You’re going to have to go and see a doctor.
